The Northern Poland Tour - 2008
 

TOUR ITINERARY:

Day 1:

MONDAY:  WARSAW (D)

Arrivals in Warsaw. A meeting with your tour escort at your hotel, the Radisson SAS at 6:00 p.m. Orientation walking tour. Dinner at the local restaurant in the Old Town Square.

Day 2:

TUESDAY:  WARSAW-MALBORK-GDANSK (B/L)

 

Morning drive to Gdansk. En route stop in Malbork to see the famous fortress of the Teutonic Knights.  The magnificent castle is located on the banks of the Nogat River. Lunch at a local restaurant located in the wing of the Malbork Castle.  Continue drive to Gdansk. Evening walk along the Old Town to get acquainted with the historic city on the Baltic Sea.

Day 3: WEDNESDAY: GDANSK-OLIWA-SOPOT-GDYNIA (B/D)

A morning tour of Gdansk starts from the Upland Gate-a fragment of the city's fortifications and one of its main gates.  See the Main Town Hall with a life-sized statue of King Sigismund Augustus on the top. Continue with the tour then enjoy a walk along Mariacka Street and time for shopping for the famous Polish amber. Stop in Oliwa to enjoy one of the many organ concerts that are held here during the summer. Enjoy some leisure time. Afternoon drive to Sopot, the summer resort of Poland to take a walk along the longest pier in Europe. Dinner served in a local restaurant.

Day 4: THURSDAY: GDANSK-TORON-GNIEZNO-POZNAN (B/L)

Morning departure for Poznan, stopping in Torun on the way. Torun is one of the most magnificent historic cities in Poland and the birthplace of Copernicus, the great astronomer.  Walk along the old town that is a UNESCO world heritage site and marvel at the 13th Century Town Hall, the superb churches and the streets uncovering Torun's past glory. Visit the Copernicus Museum.  Continuing on to Poznan, we stop for a short visit in Gniezno, Poland's first capital.

Day 5:

FRIDAY: POZNAN-LICHEN-WARSAW (B/L)

 

Today we drive back to Warsaw, after a morning sightseeing tour of Poznan. In Poznan you'll see the famous Renaissance Town Hall and other historic sights. En route to Warsaw, we'll stop for a visit in Ostrow Tumski as well as Lichen.

Day 6:

SATURDAY: WARSAW (B/D)

 

You'll be treated to a full sightseeing tour though Warsaw, including all the city highlights such as the meticulously rebuilt Old Town (completely destroyed during WWII) with its impressive Royal Castle (visit included).  After lunch, you have the afternoon free. This evening there is a farewell Chopin concert including wine, and dinner.

Day 7:

SUNDAY:  WARSAW (B)

 

After breakfast, transfers to the train station or airport, if departing Warsaw.
